MP 7,1 The 7,1 is finally here... slots almost full already

After a 2 week wait, it has finally arrived. Excited to put it through its paces.

I've decided to go with a Pro Vega II, in addition to using the Radeon VII that I had in the cMP.

All is good so far, but I am surprised by the GB difference between the 2 cards. There must be another driver being used for the Pro Vega II, cause it's benchmarking at significantly faster speeds.

Thank you! The fans are pretty quiet, especially considering the fact I have the machine on my desk right next to my ears. I do hear the constant fan spin, but its light and like white noise.

Oh uh... I'm experiencing the same sleep issue that others are having when the computer goes to sleep... the Radeon VII's fan go to full blast.

It's crazy since I didn't have this issue in my 5,1 cMP with this card. It's really bad on the 7,1, with the rest of the machine going quiet while the VII's fans blast up really loud. Unfortunate...

I note you have 3 other PCIe cards installed - what are they?

• 4-slot 10Gbp USB 3.1 gen 2 card
• AJA Kona uncompressed video I/O
• Highpoint 4-slot NVME SSD controller card

This leaves me with one slot, unless I decide not to stick with the Radeon VII.

How is it compared to your cMP?

The card is not scratching the MPX module... it sits above it with a little space. It definitely seems quieter in the new 7,1. But the full-speed fans at sleep are something I didn't deal with when it was in the 5,1.

How is the overall experience compared to the 5,1? Much faster and "snappier"?
