However the A11 Bionic has flexibility and is capable to have all 6 Cores running at the same time or independently as needed. Marking a monumental change.

This is an old article, before the announcement. Well, with the iPhone 8 already, any updated info on this? We already know the A11 has great benchmark scores.

With the current cycle, the iPhone will always get a newer gen Ax chip than the iPad, but the iPad AxX chip can probably sustain higher performance longer. The trend is already there when the Air2 was released with an A8X, and then later the year Apple released the A9. So even if you waited for an A11X iPad Pro, by September of that year, the A12 will be out. You can wait forever, or actually take advantage of the utility of the iPad (larger canvas, Apple pencil, tablet optimized apps, etc) rather than looking at benchmarks.

Let me go ahead and disprove this right now. The A10X is a six core processor with three High Performance Cores and three High Effeciency cores. The A10X can use up to three cores at any given moment, with most daily tasks being relegated to the low power cores. The second thing is that the thermal headroom of the iPad Pro’s allows continuous use of high performance cores, while the iPhone will probably throttle the frequency of the proccesor and gpu within 8-10 minutes. As for the graphics processor within the A11 it is custom designed for iOS 11 and Metal 2 feature set. Employing three cores compared to the iPad Pro’s 12 core Power VR chip. The A11 graphics are about on par with the A9X in terms of raw performance, while the A10X gpu offers about 2x the performance while maintaining the higher frequency over a longer period of time the same way the cpu does. Overall the A10X is the more powerful chip for the majority of tasks, while the A11 does exceed the A10X in certain scenarios *mainly related to the machine learning and AR capabilities the new Apple gpu is optimized for especially eregarding new feature set of Metal 2 graphics api.

The linked “article” doesn’t even have some measured benchmarks to call out. Wonderful proof. Falls in line with the other stuff you post like the iPad won’t have a headphone jack and that Apple will work with advertisers to sell your Face ID data. FUD as usual.

True yet UnTrue. I misquoted the article as the A10X As Being 4 Cores you are correct it is 6 Cores. Yet the underlying fact remains that Benchmarks and Apps can only address either 3 Cores High Power or the 3 Low Power Cores at any given time not all 6 Cores. And here’s Proof. As you can see the A11 Bionic Shows Up As 6 Cores where as the A10X only shows up as 3 Cores. Hence it’s major limitation. Links Below

the three high power cores within the A10X are just about on par with the A11 SIX cores. So with 50% less cores being used the A10X is giving like 98% of peak (benchmark performance) and in real world perf is able to sustain the peak performance were as the A11 performance peak drops off fairly quickly as with any mobile phone.
 
A10X is a better processor, and can retain its performance for much longer, as well as contains a much more powerful GPU. The people above have already posted enough on it. So I’ll give a lesson on marketing instead.


Simply because one has a larger number in the name doesn’t mean it’s better, faster, or bigger.

Mercedes numbering in the cars name used to be the displacement of the engine, but as engines have gotten smaller and more efficient, that’s changed. Now the German car companies raise the numbers every year just to give the -sense- that the engine is bigger. You can’t have an S450 when bmw’s base is the 750, that a bigger number, and consumers will automatically assume it’s better.

Look at the new S560, with a 4.0 liter engine. Ten years ago it would’ve been the S400.

A year ago it was the 550 and actually had a LARGER 4.7 liter engine.

Just because one has a bigger number doesn’t mean it’s better, however it’s usually a good marketing trick to use to make people automatically think it is.

Life is too short to always wait for the next big thing. I will never ever make this mistake again (and I’m not talking only about gadgets)
 
"A12 self-aware" will destroy "A11X super-bionic" soon enough and the machine uprising will be inevitable!

Examples of software currently available where this is a fact?

Most software available wouldn't tax an iPad Air, let alone the current processors.

Why? What are planning on using the iPad for that requires such a fast processor. The A10 is plenty fast and I see no downsides of using the iPad. I think its silly to hold off on a product that works so well, just for the hope and promise a future version will be even faster.

In cpu, it probably is significantly quicker. It’s already been noted that the A10 design uses only the high power or power saving cores at once while the A11 can mix and match. What about GPU though, that’s always the big upgrade of the X chips, doubt the A11 can even come close to the A10X in that respect, even after the the A10X is pushing a much higher screen resolution.

Why do you even post this ? Each and every time a new iPad comes out it will supersede with a better CPU than the one before. This happens with the iPad, the iPhone, MacBooks and even Apple TV. Nothing earth shattering here. I think you’re doing this far too often and you have developed a lack of credibility on this forum
 
I really don’t get why people are worrying over. this. The newer product will always have a faster processor. The iPhone will have the fastest processor until the next iPad comes out and then the iPad will have the fastest processer until the next iPhone comes out.
