Apple automatically upgraded my system last night. I clicked on the apple icon I saw no names disappeared only the folders. I clicked on the preference but I didn't see anything. Can anybody help me, please?

Have you clicked on the 'Macintosh...' location?
Your screenshot is on the shared location.

Turn off 'automatic updates' also.

Have you checked Finder options (look at the link above).
Your user account is there, as your name shows at the top.

Sorry, but I can't make any sense out of your post. You have a Finder window open, so did you mean you clicked on the FINDER icon?

I also don't know what "I saw no names disappeared only the folders" means even on a grammatical level. Could you maybe try to reword that? What folders have disappeared?

I clicked on the finder and saw only Bob's HD and the mac hd beside the folders. If I changed to bobaugello and see the folders. If I changed to either bob's hd or the mac hd I don't see any folders from the desktop.now.

hmm... no Favorites showing in the sidebar?
Is that the question?
Move your cursor over the word "Favorites" -- Do you see "Show" to the right of Favorites?
Click on "Show" - that will show the folders that should appear under Favorites.

Does that help?

I saw the favorite so I tried to click but I couldn't. I made a mistake because the sideburn disappeared so I clicked on the preference but I saw all of the icons are on.

It looks like you might have accidentally hidden the folders in the Favorites section. If you move your cursor near the "Favorites" text in the left sidebar of the Finder window, there should be an arrow that shows up. Clicking on that arrow should unhide the folders.

I was ignoring that you are using Monterey, and said to look for the word "show" when you move your mouse cursor through the sidebar for Favorites - but prime17569 above is more correct to look for the arrow that appears when you move your cursor a bit. It's not easy to see, just keep moving your mouse around on that Favorites area, click on the arrow when you see it. That should work.

Still on Mojave here, but if selecting Macintosh HDD (or whatever it's named), shouldn't the OP see Library, System, Users etc, or has this changed in Monterrey....?
