What is the average size of your iPhone / iPod touch apps?

I got an average of 66MB, which is larger than I had expected.

For me that is 6851MB divided by 104 apps. It's a rough calculation because I did not account for 1MB equaling 1024KB instead of 1000KB, 1GB equaling 1024MB instead of 1000MB, etc. But it gives me a general idea of how much space I'm using with my apps.

The size variance is huge. Some are less than 1MB, while others are over 1GB. The larger ones tend to be games with a lot of graphics data, dictionary apps, and anything with lots of eye candy, map data, big databases of "stuff", and the like.

Random fact: The record-setter for disk space consumption was Elements. Not surprising, considering how many movies and graphics it has.

How to check the size of your apps: In iTunes, while your iOS device is connected, click on the device so its menu comes up. Then click the Apps tab and a list will be displayed.

Most apps for me are small. With the exeption of Gameloft Games. These guys are making their games way too big (close to 1GB). They should put more effort in effective compression. Square and capcom have made games more graphically intensive and larger, yet they are under 300MB.
