I'm tired of my apple ID being my .mac address so i recently set out to update it all to my gmail account so i could have a current email address for everything..

But thanks to my .mac address i had.. i cannot

email via Apple
Note: You cannot change your Apple ID if it was at any time a .Mac or MobileMe email address, even if your subscription has ended or been canceled.

So i'm stuck with a bum email address.

I'd delete and start over but i have a large amount of $$$ i've put into itunes

here's a pic of my Apple ID. i was curious if i delete my other verified alternate email address .. the .mac & .me and only leave my gmail account would if force a change? or would i still be screwed.

I'd say that you're stuck with is just very nearly insane to me.

I never (thankfully) used a @mac or @me account for my iTunes purchases, so I can change my id just about any way and any time that I want. It just changes right along with me. I think I'm on the third or fourth e-mail address ID for my iTunes account.

My Apple ID Screen reads: "Apple ID and Primary Email Address" where your ID and primary e-mail are broken out into separate sections...

So the reality is that because you're an Apple supporter they won't let you do what they will let a PC guy like me do. There's some kind of irony there.

Yes, especially with everything Apple moving to the "ICloud" world etc. having my Apple ID stuck on an old account is stopping from wanting to use these features.

You can have more than one Apple ID. The Apple ID you use for the iTunes store does not have to be the one you use for iCloud (or Messages, for that matter.

I'm in the opposite mess. My appleID is my work email. My mobileMe is my me.com address. I can't merge them. I either have to have two iclouds or abandon my PAID MobileMe account.
