hi~everyone,

I just upgrade the ram to 5G, but something Strange。

first:when I upgrade to 5G and boot the mac, and the login window is different with 2G, the Circular user's photo is gone!! so Strange! and I swap to 2G, the photo is back...

second:I have test with the Geekbench, and the result is 2G higher than 5G???
the "Memory performance" is Significant difference。

in the picture, left is 5G and right is 2G, why so different? Is it the ram's brand problem?

I'm going to say this is just one of the risks of running unmatched modules.

I know that the 2009 would be good with 5gb or 6gb ram. It had the c2d cpu. The cpu is new in all of the 2011 mini's It may not behave well with

1 plus 2
1 plus 4
2 plus 4 ram combos.

The only mixed kit that OWC (a company specialising in providing products for Mac users) sells for the 2011 Mac Mini is 1x4GB and 1x8GB RAM module for a little over $500 USD.

I just installed a 4GB (2x2GB) kit from them in my MacBook and a 8GB (2x4GB) kit in a MacBook Pro.

Considering the cost of 4GB or smaller modules, there isn't really any point mixing different capacity modules unless you want 12GB RAM.
