the base model is so slowly

My first mac is imac g5(2005), now my second mac is the base model mac mini(2011).
I don't feel is how faster than my old imac, I'm planning upgrade the 8G ram tomorrow, I'm not sure whether there is a big change...

Although my expectations are not high，but I try to resize a 500px width photo to 5000px, it almost take one minute, I am surprised. I do it on my PC just take a few seconds,I do not know why there is such a big difference...Update to an SSD first. You can get something small, like 40-80 GB for the OS and applications, and I think the stock drive can move into another slot in the mini. I'm not sure, but if possible, that's what you should do.

Seems kinda crap that Lion runs so badly with 2GB of RAM. Seems crapper still that Apple have released a Mac with Lion preloaded that, clearly, can't handle it very well.
I hope this is just teething trouble. One of the reasons why Vista was such a rotten piece of [xxxx] was because it was so RAM-hungry.

For what it's worth, my PC that utilizes ONLY the integrated HD3000 has 8gb of ram and is a 3.2ghz 2500k and CS5 still gets kinda bogged down and stutters. It wasn't until I switched cases and plugged in a stand alone video card did it begin smoothing out again.
I think it's simply that the HD3000 is a piece of garbage and Intel's drivers make it worse.

I find it very erratic. Sometimes it'll run something really rather well, and other times it'll fall over doing something that doesn't - to me - seem very difficult.

i have some questions:
1) do people immediate start using their new mini before spotlight completes the initial indexing process? obviously as the hdd is cranking away, the system would appear to be slow and unresponsive.
2) what kind of specific graphics issues are people seeing that may be due to the hd3000? i haven't noticed any problems in typical day-to-day usage on the mini server, athough i don't use mission control or launchpad.

People are not seeing any problems due to the HD3000, until they try to play a 3D game on high quality settings. I don't know where the confusion comes from , but a graphics card does very little work to display a windows based desktop. I have no idea where these misconceptions come from, but they are starting to get annoying.
Any sluggishness that you experience in Lion when using normal non-3d applications has nothing to do with the graphics card. There are very few applications right now that are 2d and make any meaningful use of the gpu.
