I picked up my 2018 iPad Pro after the event, and it’s sooo laggy on iPad OS 17.5 compared to other newer iOS devices.
The A14 on the iPad is equivalent/worse than a12x, and without pro motion and laminated cover glass.. Do people actually find it enjoyable to use and willing to buy a tech product that is kind of 6 years old? Wouldn’t it just last shorter with regards to software support and lacking capabilities to run apps in a few years

Apple doesn’t remove OS support
And that’s why people keep getting tortured by the lagginess and poor battery life
IMO nobody should buy an iPad without ProMotion and quad speakers
But given the pricing, not everybody can afford iPad Pros

Oh, iPad Pro 2018 has got a lot of updates already
It will also get iOS 18 and maybe even iOS 19
That’s enough
With the advent of AI, Apple will eventually restrict to iPads with a neural engine only

If you can find a 2018 iPad Pro for less than $350, it may make better sense. At this point, it's anyone's guess how many more software updates it will get. Conversely, since the iPad 10 is technically a recent device, I suppose Apple could arrange for it to continue receiving software updates for another couple of years.

The iPad 10th gen was released back in 2022. It’s like when Apple kept selling the iPad 9th gen after they introduced the 10th gen. There’s no regular iPad (2024) just yet.

As for updates, the iPad 6th gen released back in 2018 still supports iPadOS 17 (albeit likely not getting 18). I don’t believe Apple will drop support for the 10th gen that quickly. All things considered, the A14 has similar architecture as the M1, just with fewer cores and missing the features geared towards desktop.
