Hello
I am ripping TV shows from DVD and gathering some from .mkv 720p/1080p from the interwebs and I am struggling to find the proper workflow. What I intend to have as a finished product is this:
-Two encodes. One for AppleTV, one for iPod touch & Nano, at the max res. that each device can handle.
-Files tagged properly and permanently (no more tagging in iTunes!)
-"Combine" two files into one for view in iTunes (with Subler)
As far as I know, here is what I need to do:
1.) Rip individual episodes from DVD.
2. Naming of the files; should I:
a.) Name the files as they are most likely to be named (ex: prison.break.S01E01.mp4). Useful for MetaX (?)
b.) Name the files as per the episode title? (ex: 01. Pilot.mp4)
3. Use MetaX for tags
4. Use subler for combining the cnID numbers of same episode but different encode, and embed the cover art, and create the HD tag.
That should do it I guess? I am wondering how people on this forum are managing dual encodes for every episode they rip.
I would like to have the best performance possible for my AppleTV encode since I have a TV that can really benefit from the highest resolution possible.
Thanks
Francois
PS: Is is true that .mp4 is stereo only, and .mov can contain multi-channel audio? If so, I am screwed since Subler appears to only work with .mp4
