Just curious how is everyone else; 2021 model 14" / 16" battery doing so far for day one owners. I think the rate at 1000 charge cycles is a joke or my battery is really just bad batch on release? No where close to 500 cycles let alone 1000 cycles rated, with the mix system report and terminal, I think it's around 80% now.

Here is my update on my MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro after daily use for exactly two years mark now.

Daily Usage:
- 25% Runs On Battery, 1-3 hours daily.
- 75% Plugged into CalDigit Thunderbolt 4 Element Hub @ 60w charging with a 4K monitor.
- No AlDente usage.

That's interesting...

My M1 Pro 16" is at about 93% after 130 cycles (will have to double check the numbers) and I've had it for about a year and a half.

Did you notice a decrease in battery life? Does it seem worse than when it was new?

UPDATE: 138 cycles and 92%. Still holding up good!

Compare to day one, I guess losing about 2 hours at most now – doing the same work habit, however, I don't know how much is Sonoma impacts compare to Monterey launched OS.

Purchased 14" M1 Pro; November 21, 2023
157 Cycles, 92.4% Health. (Coconut Battery)

Looking at the history of the battery, it got down to 87% at cycle 81, then slowly increased back to 93.4% at cycle 130.

For the bulk of its life, its been around 92%.

Keep in mind that its not linear, it will go up and it will go down. Unless it hits 79% before 1000 cycles, then its considered "Normal".

Macbook Pro 2020 M1.

I might have done quite a lot of gaming being at 100% charge and also while charging.

Didn't know about AlDente in the first years.

EDIT: Sorry if its a bit off-topic but I think the batteries should by quite similar.

2020 MacBook Pro i5, purchased in May 2020:
78.1% left of design capacity.
Before my AppleCare+ ran out this May, it was still more than 80% of course, yeaaa :))
I always watched out to charge around 20% battery left. Most of the time, my MBP was connected to a monitor charging with 45 watts though. However, I used to disconnect it over night and let the battery drain now and then.
All in all, I am disappointed by the battery. I am afraid that I will have to change it soon at my own expense, AC+ was a waste of money in that regard.

2021 MBP 16, 122 cycles, 91%, Day 1 8-16-2021 Build date
I use aldente, at 80% max charge setting. I hardly go to 100%. I use the included 140watt adapter with MagSafe

AlDente since day one and got 91% wear? o_O

MBP 16" 2021, Al Dente 70% limit since day one. One and a half years later, still at 100% health.

I also have a MBA 2020 M1, two and a half years and it's at 80% health, I used Al Dente but not since day one and even when I started limiting charge to 80%, its health continued dropping like crazy, 1-2 percent per month or so..

I have a base model M1 Pro almost 2 years old now with 362 cycles. use it during the day at most 4 hours on battery, the rest of the time its on my desk connected to a dock with a 65w charger. used to go from a full day of battery to now needing to charge during the day if I want to make it through the full day.
