I am surprised no one is excited about the added ability to use voice control through bluetooth. I am using a parrot 3200ls bluetooth device in my car and I can now use the iphone's voice control to make calls and more importantly to select music with using my hands or eyes at all. All I have to do is say phone, wait for the iphone to activate voice control and say play songs by ..... Very cool. Although, I wish the voice control would respond quicker as there is a couple seconds of lag while waiting for the beep, it is still an awesome added feature in 3.1.

Actually I'm very excited about this feature as well. It's something a long time coming. Most other phones have had this feature for years.

It will be incredibly handy when using navigon. I tested it out with the apple headset last night it it worked pretty well.

This is the only reason I rushed to upgrade to 3.1. I was very disappointed that it wasn't an initial feature of the voice control. Luckily I didn't have to wait long as I just got my iPhone 3 weeks ago. :)

Good to see others appreciate this feature as well. I was definately disappointed when this feature was not available and I was about to get some type of remote so I could stop messing with my phone while driving. This feature may save lives. I hope they increase the number of voice commands in the future.

I have not upgraded yet for many reason. I just have one question.

Before we couldn't access the skip buttons through Bluetooth...do we now have control over them?

That was the main reason I updated to 3.1. I have a question, though. You say you can say "Phone" into the BT mic and that will activate Voice Control? That does not seem to work for me. Is there a documentation about it? FYI I am using a Motorola S305.

Thanks!

I agree. I have a Parrot CK3100 and have been using the bluetooth control since the 3.1 beta. I told Parrot months ago that it works and they were thrilled.

With my Bluetooth device, I simply press and hold the button on the earpiece for a few seconds. Voice control activates and you can hear the voice through the headset and give commands as usual. Very cool!

for 3200 I needed to record a command in my voice to allow it to recognize that command. The 3200 is capable of voice command without the iPhone's voice control, but it requires recording everyones name in your contact list into the device. It's a pia especially since everytime my iPhone got replaced for waranty reasons I had to rerecord all the names despite my contacts remaining the same. Using the iPhones voice control is much easier and allows me to control my music.

Help!

This was my main want in 3.1 as well ... but I have a jawbone and can't make it work. Can anyone help?

I've heard from others on the forums that it doesn't work 100% for all Bluetooth makes and models. I have a Plantronics headset I've been testing and it works fine. With the Plantronics model I have I only have to press the button on the headset briefly to hear the Voice Control tone. For me I hear the tone via the headset, and I hear the Voice Control responses via the headset as well. I have read however that some people are not receiving the Voice Control responses via their headsets - the response is coming from the iPhone speaker instead.

Maybe this is one of those cases where your mileage may vary.

Yeah I guess so. I have the Plantronics as well and it works perfectly.

I have yet to try this with my BlueAnt v1 as of yet. I got it about a year ago as it has built in voice controls.

EDIT/UPDATE:

Ok so I have tried it out very cool! I'll more than likely still use the BlueAnt voice control commands as they are quicker at the moment. ex: one menu vers having to go through the voice controls of the head set than the phone. Better yet I'll have to go through the menus to find where to turn off its built in voice control.

I have both an original jawbone and a PLANTRONICS Voyager 520 and neither seem to work. I have tried saying "phone", or holding the main button for a few seconds and neither activate the voice control. Is there a setting somewhere that will let the VC work with bluetooth?
