I think of going with the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X with RX 5700 GPU on an Unraid server. The Ryzen 9 is:
Ryzen 9 3900X 12C 24T 3.8 4.6 6 MB 64 MB 16+4+4 ? 105W $499
It is only 105W TDP for 12 core 24 threads, and the new AMD card is superior to RTX 2070.
What do you guys think about this?

Isn’t the Ryzen 9 positioned as AMD’s top mainstream processor? Mac Pros are workstations requiring server class processors and ECC memory. In the unlikely chance that Apple would use AMD processors (there are good reasons why Apple wouldn’t), the 7nm Epyc or Threadripper would be more fitting for the modular MP.

Mac Pros are workstations
x86. Fake workstations.

AMD mainstream desktop CPUs have normally also supported ECC for a very long time. AMD does not cripple them like Intel.

On top of that Ryzen does not suffer from hyperthreading downgrade

I am just waiting for a better option as I don't need to upgrade right now. Now even more waiting until we learn more about the performance of the Apple chips.

So the new AS MBP and Mac mini are not compatible with the XDR display? Or I'm missing something here?

Pretty sure they said the mini can drive 2 XDRs.

That's cool... Driving one XDR display and you get one TB port left to be shared with external storage, USB devices and everything else you have. That's a huge deal breaker.

Btw the mini can drive an XDR display at 6K HDR? I'd be surprised if it does.

You can use thunderbolt docks. What is important here is how many PCIE lanes this CPU supports.

Looking at these results the M1 is on par with EPYC in multi-core.
I don't know where they got that Epyc Geekbench5 score. But a quick look on Geekbench browser says otherwise... The scores on Geekbench are twice that lol.

Exactly what I was thinking... Also nothing makes sense, a W-3175 beating the W-3275 by almost 50% in multiscore... Let's wait for a real review although from what I'm seeing the M1 performance is very close to the A14X
