I was in St. Louis over the holiday and stopped by the ballpark construction project. Is is an interesting situation, the new stadium is being built partially over the same land as the the old. The construction started during the season, and is now in full swing that the season is over and they are demolishing the old stadium. As I stood there looking at the project I was reminded of the legendary bird the Phoenix. The new rising from the ashes of the old.

Anyway, I had taken along my new Rebel XT and snapped some shots from the roof of the adjacent parking garage.

Take a look here.

I work for the construction firm who is acting as the construction manager for that project, Hunt Construction Group. It is quite the project and on a very tight time frame.

When did they start the construction actually? I'm just wondering how it compares to Soldiers Field when they recently redid it.

I can get you the exact start date tomorrow. I know there will be a few months where Busch will be out of commission and the new stadium will not be completed yet. That puts the pressure on to be sure it is done on time ;)

Thank you for the pictures. I'm kind of sad to see Busch Stadium go, as I've seen quite a few games there...it is, in fact, the only MLB stadium at which I've seen a game. The new stadium will be awesome though. I'm very excited about it, and can't wait to see a game there come spring.

man, busch stadium was one of my favorites. something about the circular design just made it cool. does anybody have a link to how the new design will look?
Here's a sketch of it. http://projectballpark.org/future/cardinals.html
I wonder how many remember Sportsman's Park and the big, red Budweiser Cardinal that flew on a home run?
