I bought The Cave on Macgamestore because the Steam version cost three times as much.
On Steam it says that this game has full controller support. My version doesn't recognize any controller (I have a simple Logitech Precision joypad).
Apparently, Steam users are having similar problems.

Anyone know how to play The Cave with a controller ?

I just spent $55 on a PS3 controller (works great with Pinball Arcade, for example), but it seems the Mac App Store version of The Cave does *NOT* support game controllers. On their support site, they said last March (2013) that they hadn't finished controller support when they built the Mac App Store version (gee guys, how about flipping FINISHING your games before you release them???), but they promised to add it in an update. Well, they added achievements like the Steam version, but no controller support. So now I've got a crappy keyboard/mouse only version of the game. I bought the Mac App Store version because I DESPISE having to connect to Steam to start a game (i.e. I'm not always somewhere where there's Internet with my Macbook Pro like on a cruise ship recently) and thus I figured it would bet better, but alas, I got ripped off. The Steam version has support and the Mac App Store doesn't and gaging by their forums, they won't even reply about the subject anymore so I'll just assume the worst that they don't give a crap about their customers which guarantees I won't be buying any more games from them (just like RUNIC games with the non-support of Torchlight II after promising a Mac version which sold them lots of copies on Steam and no Mac version ever surfaced....)

From what I've read, their controller support is terrible anyway (i.e. if you have a gaming wheel plugged in on a PC, it gets confused because they apparently coded for gaming consoles or something and would never figure gamers might have a LOT of controllers). Two-bit hack programming. I've seen better support for game controllers 10 years ago. :(
