The iPad looks like a pretty cool device, but I really hate how Apple is forcing people to only buy and load apps through their online store (with jailbreaking of course). I'm guessing that having complete control over the apps, books, etc. is why it runs the iPhone OS instead of OS X. But if I'm going to drop over $800 for the high end model (which is the one I'd want), I really don't like not being able to load what I want on it without going through Apple. They are becoming dangerously like Microsoft in wanting control over everything (but in a much more elegant manner).

No they aren't. False analogy.

Microsoft was locking you into only THEIR software. Apple on the other hand is just picky about some of the types of applications they allow (with good reason).

So Microsoft puts restrictions on what apps you can load on their computers? Uhhh...not that I am aware of.
