Hello Folks,

I am in the market for an MBP and considering 14" M1 Pro, MBP. As the MBP M2 Pros are likely to launch in few months, would the M1 Pro MBP prices likely drop soon / after the M2 Pro releases? Would waiting a few months help me save money? Just wanted to time my purchase better.

Take a look around the forum, there are a ton of posts on this topic recently. You'll get a lot of good information. To summarize:
  • No one is totally sure what's coming or when
  • The MBP14 base model is a much beloved device - very few people who own one have any real complaints
  • It's powerful, has a great screen, maybe a tad light on battery length
  • Most folks doubt the update to the M2 chips will be a huge performance gain
  • Some folks think it could be on 3nm which would be a pretty decent evolutionary change (not revolutionary like Intel to Apple Silicon)
  • I think the common POV is that if you believe the M1Pro chip easily meets your needs, then buying one on a discount or refurb is a good move. But it isn't worth paying full retail for a BTO machine with the new one on the horizon

If its going to drop, it will only do so after the release of the M2. People are expecting a price hike for the M2, so that may mean the price drop of the M1 will be more of a non-price hike then an actual price reduction I really don't know but I don't think we're talking about saving large sums of money.

OP:

You didn't say where in the world you are.

In the USA, some vendors have been offering substantial discounts on the MBP 14" and 16" models. A few of these offers may still be in effect.

For example, costco.com (one needs to be a member) has the MacBook Pro 14" for $1,599.
HOWEVER, it shows "out of stock", and not sure if any new stock will be received by the time the current price ends...

there
my new concern about  price inflating this week is my paranoia that
the base model iPad will never being $329 again.

the 10 is $449 and has the same features but a usbC port..is that worth the $110 price hike?
I now the 14 chip an more liquid and more ipadnees and colors
and the more magic and lovables are included in this edition only.

I could use a new one, the 2017 I use is still is great,
but does not feature universal control or drop off like the iPad 9 newer ones,
and mine just does not hav that loveness anymore.
