A whole 3 months late to announce, and by the time it's available, a whole another 3 months late.

I agree I love my iPad and I think it would be very hard for microsoft to make one thats so simpe to use. Also I wondered if the rumored Zune HD2 could make an appearance at the event? The current zune hd was revealed around this time last year.

Could be Microsoft trying to steal some of Apple's thunder from the ipad by introducing the courier tablet a week after the ipad is released. OR, could just be some other lame microsoft product, maybe having nothing to do with a tablet.

I find it unlikely that the currier is ready to be announced let alone released. I think its more likely to be a phone or zine announcement where they may discuss currier but I don't see the currier shipping till late this year. If it does ship before then I would expect a lot of bugs and the look of a rushed product.

Hilarious And Pathetic

MS....ALWAYS trying to ride Apple's wave.

Apple rolls out a BMW and MS announces immediately they are building (date TBD) a KIA....

MS is the epitome of empire in decline.

I agree with previous posters that while I expect to here courier related news I dont think they will release the hardware that day.

Pink sounds more likely. It's further along and would be more likely to fit in the "It's time to SHARE" theme than the "personal journal" courier.

I haven't really been paying attention.

Are we in the "under-deliver" phase of the Microsoft Product Cycle yet?

Or are we still in "over-promise" mode?

I don't think they're going to announce the Courier (the name of the event is "it's time to share" so...) but anyway, the Courier is meant to be used as a research tool rather than a general purpose computer like the iPad.

If you've seen what Kia's been up to lately you may want to rethink that. They're starting to make some really stylish looking cars for the masses, not just the few that are rich.

The problem with the Courier is based on the videos, its purely a productivity tool/journal.

Yes, the UI is beautiful, but I don't see how a device like that (the way it's shown) would be really useful to average customers. I don't want to browse the web with a big black bar in the middle, or watch a movie that way either.

In fact, i bet a Courier type of software could be made for the iPad.

We'll see what they have to show. Maybe its the HP Slate :)

But right now as I see it, the way the Courier is looking, it looks la lot less practical than an iPad.

The timing would be great for the Courier, somehow, I'm thinking it's the PINK project.

That's my guess. Courier looks to be quite a ways out yet. We'll see though, i've been wrong before.

All the early reports have the Courier as a really nice device. Who knows what the final version will be like, but its hardly a Kia.

Oooh. Interesting, I'll have to keep an eye on this. And if it's the Courier, they better tell us whether or not it's pressure sensitive. Too bad as a drawing tablet it will only be half as big as iPad. I know unfolded it will be about the same size... but that doesn't really matter if it's split in half.

I read that article. Gizmodo's argument for Pink makes sense. Meh. Don't care about it.

I have no interest in Pink -

I have moderate interest in the Courier. But would have to know more and hold one in my hands before I could make an informed decision.

The Courier actually could be an honest to god new class of gadget - the iPad sort of is, but it's really a combination of strengths of existing items to hit a particular part of an existing market and serve that segment well - the Courier would serve a market that is currently almost unserved.

I give Microsoft credit for - ironically - thinking outside the box with the Courier, whether I ever buy one or not.

And just like Kia and BMW, 90% of the car is exactly the same, the Kia is half the price and you can talk to a Kia owner without feeling like you need a shower afterwards.

Microsoft- late to the party and slow on the uptake.

"Microsoft, we're cruising on past success since 2003."

Can you link to a report of someone seeing or using a Courier device? The only thing we've seen from Microsoft are concept videos... animations of ideas, not actual products.
