The curse of the free Dell

What would you guys do in this situation? I'm taking a teaching job (high school) where I would receive a Dell laptop. I actually asked the IT dept. about using my Mac which would run Windows so there shouldn't be any compatibility problems, they just mentioned that tech support is easier if everyone has the same laptop.

Obviously I would prefer to use my Mac (I use a laptop as my primary computer), I wouldn't even care about the free laptop. But I don't want to be a pain in the ass, they would probably not consider it a favor to save the cost of the laptop.

I suppose I could use both but is that just going to be a headache with syncing the two? And if I'm using a Dell all the time, am I destined to become a former Mac user?

With the amount of downtime you'll have on that Dell, keep your Mac as a backup.

Keep all important docs on a thumbdrive that you can plug into the Mac...

Take your dell to work with you, and your Mac everywhere else.

Don't worry, you'll still be a Mac fanatic. I've used Thinkpads for long stretches exclusively and i still evangelize Apple!
