I think the island is a pretty cool idea. I really don't get the hate at all. It's just a small quality of life change that will bring a bit of added functionality to the device. I'm looking forward to messing around with it & look forward to the 3rd party support as well.

I think it’s easier just to call it “the island” and skip saying the dynamic part. Honestly the name is dumb to begin with. Weren’t the rumors calling it “the pill?”

Info bar would be a better description since we have a home bar on the bottom.

*cries* I’ve been out voted. And I had thought I was being so clever, oh well.

As long as it continues to annoy others, I will keep saying Dynamic Island frequently and in its entirety.

Likely candidates:
  • pill
  • island

Less likely:
  • temp bar/island
  • live thing
  • alt-tab-ber/bar
  • notchifications
  • pile-land (pile-island) bonus points if you enjoy macOS 'Piles'

OK I am totally going to be the person responsible for coin the phrase,
“The DI” (dynamic island)

I really think that this feature is the Bomb 💣! Loving it! I can’t wait for my phone to arrive!

I hate any kind of animation or movement in a UI. I hope to god I can TURN OFF Dynamic Island. Please, please, please, dear god, let that be the case.

DI - that is how my license plate number starts with! ;)
(DI for Dieburg, all plates in specific regions of Germany have their unique letters they're starting with)
