Sealed box, brand new, perfectly working - and I don't even wanna know where it's from.

Lesson learned: Don't trust the chinaman traders.

I agree for some products it's well worth buying from official dealers. Plus the saving in this instant was minimal, a lesson for us all?

Buying from trusted vendors is always encouraged... This is nothing new. Always issues with people ordering items from China or shady sellers that look just like the product... Only to have it be a dud.

That's just Apple ... in their own little world.

Ever bought something from Newegg or got a replacement part from Dell? Thats more like it.

Still better though.

You are effectively comparing the quality of service provided by the vendors, it isn't really a China vs the rest of the world thing is it? After all, both products were made in China, I can see that the "official" one definitely is.

I've bought stuff from Chinese companies and gotten great service and quality, but I didn't save that much money. Ultimately, spending less generally gets you less, doesn't matter where you buy from.

Please go on Youtube and make a "chinaman traders" video, see what will happen...

and what were you planning to do with the $5.50 in savings??

This is potentially a pretty inflammatory thread.

Only because of the OP's stupid thread title. He makes a bad purchase and concludes that he's got the market cornered on cultural worldliness.

I hope it's not lost on the OP that the card he ordered from the European retailer was manufactured in China.

I really don't think the OP's intention was to offend anybody, but I do think that this is a classic case of ignorance.
