I am in the process of moving most (but not all) of my Gmail conversations (i.e., both sent and received emails) from to iCloud.

What is the easiest way to do this? Which OSX desktop email client would allow me to pick and choose Gmail conversations and move them to iCloud with one click? That is, move the received messages into iCloud mailboxes of choice, while also taking with it its associated sent messages and putting them into the iCloud sent folder.

(Obviously it is not Mail as one has to move received and sent emails separately to achieve this, which is not really feasible when I try to move only a selection of my cca. 5000 emails in Gmail)

You can use Mac OS X's Mail app to bulk move your mail items. I've often found it to be one of the better non-CLI programs for moving and migrating email accounts.

Hi. Thanks for the answer. As already mentioned in my original post, OSX's Mail is of not much help to me as bulk moving messages from mailboxes/inbox does not move sent messages. So it would require an extra step of manually fishing for about 50% of the 2000 sent emails in my Gmail sent folder to keep the conversation structure intact in iCloud afterwards, which is I don't know how many hours....

There must be exist an email client that drags sent associated sent messages with it, no?

It bulk moves items in the mailboxes. Just go into the Sent folder and copy over all of those messages as well. Repeat for your other folder as well copy copy over the entire folder via drag and dropping it.

I am not moving all sent messages - only a part of them. It would require manually clicking through and selecting approx. half of the 2000 sent emails I got. That is just too much work. I repeat - it is not my intention to move ALL of the sent messages over to iCloud. Just those that go with the received messages that I want to move over.

There must be a mail app that intelligently moves the sent messages together with the messages from mailboxes with received mail. Anyone know for sure? Or should I just try all of them?

A few years ago I wanted to the same, but this wasn't available to me at the time: http://lifehacker.com/5850859/how-to-migrate-all-your-data-to-icloud-from-google-with-minimal-fuss

I had done exactly what was outlined at LH, reading Mail's Help and seeing how Gmail was structured at the time. The only PITA for me was that I had several hundred conversations tagged with multiple labels, but I came up with a new labeling system and reconstructed my labels in Mail when I was done with the import. All told, about 1500 conversations took up about 90 minutes of my dedicated time to clean up to my satisfaction. Good luck...
