Just wanted to give a heads up on an app that IS AVAILABLE NOW! http://tinyurl.com/tfa-iphone

The Flashlight App is a utility app that allows you to turn your iPhone 4 into an flashlight using the built in LED flash. It contains different themes and utilities in the app such as basic Flashlight themes to Strobe Light and even a Morse Code theme.

You can swipe between themes quickly or jump straight to your desired theme from the options. We've even included an Auto-On feature that starts the LED light as soon as you switch to the application so you can have light even faster!

Here's a short video I made with it.

There's a total of 6 different themes in the first version - here's just a few of them. The basic flashlight, the dimmer (uses screen brightness only), and the Morse theme.

The app has been in queue since June 25th, so hopefully it will be approved shortly.

The Flashlight App for iPhone 4

Will you notify people when this App is available? Can I direct email you my email so that you can email me when this is available? What do you expect the cost for this to be? Love the functionality.

I will post on these forums again when it's available.

If you want to know the second it's up you can follow our company twitter feed: www.twitter.com/tistudios - I will post on there the second it get's approved.

Will it be free?

This version will be .99 (or the cheapest price in all countries) but later we will release an iAd version with only 2 themes. The iAd version won't get any new themes though and the paid version has a couple more themes in the works as we speak.

So I saw some others mentioning. Can you link the discussion about that please? I'd love to read about it.

Thanks!

This is the topic that is linked from the macrumors home page. On page 4 swee5420 said that Apple rejected their flashlight app because an app can't use the hardware in a way other than their designated function.

iPhone 4 Flashlight

I'm hoping that someone can get something like this into the app store at some point but it may only be available through jailbreak when that happens.

iPhone 4 Flashlight

Thank you! I was just reading that as well.

Well, we'll see what happens I guess. We've seen Apple buckle and let stuff in many times before so I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Turn sound off and other suggestions

Is there a way to turn off the sound of the switches?

Also, can you have the option icons down below instead of swiping through them?

I agree with someone who said that typing out the morse code then having the light flash it would be good idea.

Overall good app.

@lunarmac - We actually already have an update that is being submitted today.

It will include, sound on/off toggle among other tweaks and improvements.

You can also switch themes by going to the options screen (the little "i" in the corner).
