I'm really excited for what Apple is doing. Out of the shows I've watched, For All Mankind is already one of my all time favourites and I can't wait until the next season. I'm really looking forward to JJ Abrams and Spielberg's projects. Apple is really nailing it with serialized fiction.

While they continue that, I'd like to see Apple TV branch out to develop into a full service TV replacement. That would have to include acquiring rights to traditional live TV content like sports and news.

Imagine if for example, the NBA joined as a Channel. No separate app, all integrated in the TV app. Apple TV already has sports integrations but you have to go elsewhere to subscribe. Having it all built in under Apple TV would be more streamlined.

For news, Apple already has a platform in AppleNews. Build a news studio, and then get a rotating cast of anchors fleshing out live content from AppleNews and reporting on the trending topics. News is a bit of a mine trap but I think it'd be possible to return to an era of strictly reporting the facts to avoid appearance of bias. The model to follow would be Reuters. Their news briefings are straight up reporting news highlights without commentary.

More live content could include a video feed of Beats1 studio, Apple Music concerts and acquiring licenses for awards shows. Given the names involved with Apple TV, they're definitely taking this very seriously. I'm looking forward to seeing it grow.

More than likely not gonna happen. Apple wants to be more known as your gadget company, than say, a Comcast.

The different entities will have to "share the pot of money"...

They won't have to if each has their own service...

Isn't live TV dead in 2020? Certainly here in the UK, live TV is aimed at the over 60 year olds etc. Live TV in the UK is of a pretty low standard and horrificly last century.
Apple TV+ seems to be highly educated and I don't see live TV fitting into the international business plan / style / culture of Apple. YouTube is your platform for live streaming :)
The future for TV as it is, really is VOD. And i'm sure that business model will change drastically over the next five years.

I pay $56 (just increased mind you) for Hulu and I would totally drop it/replace it with Apple TV+ if Apple could do two things; acquire the rights to NFL Sunday Ticket (when Direct TV's contract is up next year) and offer the Discovery, Inc. channels.

I have yet to sign up for Apple TV+ due to having other streaming services (mainly CBS All Access for Star Trek Picard), but I am interested in The Morning Show, For All Mankind, and Dickinson and will possibly sign up when Picard is over even without the above mentioned services.

Point being, if they had the above, I wouldn't bat an eye at paying close to what I pay for Hulu. Oh, maybe find a way to give me ESPN and my local PBS channels (PBS, Create, World, etc.). I know I know, now I am asking a lot. ?

Can't speak for the UK but I'd bet if you did a survey here in the US you'd find a huge proportion of people who still do live TV - no matter the age. They aren't the people who would be on this forum or similar ones. The live TV people certainly aren't the vocal group but I'm sure there are huge numbers of them
