Do you think the new MBA is a sign for what the M2 iMac could be like?
Especially the 24GB RAM? What are your thoughts on this?

Honestly I think it is very plausible we see something similar or slightly better in 2023 as an M2 iMac.

Why wouldn’t it be? Are you worried that Apple won’t offer the 24GB upgrade option on a more expensive desktop variant?
I do not know, that is why I asked the question.

I hope Apple does release this on things like the iMac.
Though I do wonder why it is not a 32GB upgrade. Are Apple waiting for M3 for 32GB?

This is also about predictions. Can we assume the base level desktops of a generation Mini and iMac) will come with similar (or better) internals than the Air or base MBP of the same generation? If so, this will be very valuable information for the desktop users out there.

The desktop users traditionally are the last in line to get upgrades from Apple, so it would be nice to speculate on what we are waiting for.

Most likely the max size per RAM module for LPDDR5 is 12GB. From the Keynote, it looks like M2 is still using 2 RAM modules.

I'd imagine the original plans were to release all the M2 Macs at the same time but supply chain issues made that impossible. So they went with their best sellers first. The iMac and the mini will probably follow on in late summer or fall.
