Where do you all see Siri going in the future? Honestly, I see Siri being a huge cornerstone for the future of Apple, right next to iCloud.

I'm imagining Siri being on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and iTV. I'm imagining full 3rd party integration and support. I'm imagining being able to control your iTV or Mac from across town using your iPhone through iCloud. Siri will become be smart enough to be able to do just about anything you can imagine.

My only question is how quickly will Apple be able to get Siri ready? I'm hoping for 3rd party and iTV support by iOS 6 and OS X Mountain Lion (I know ML is a bit of a stretch).

I agree, Siri will soon become the new GUI tool throughout Apple's products. I believe Siri will become more than just voice control, it'll be doing hand gestures as well, just like Kinect.
Apple is already working on Hologram technology, and I think Siri will be a big part of that.
I expect Siri to integrate with 3rd party apps when the iPhone 6 comes out this year, along with other features such as "turn off Bluetooth" or "Turn on Wifi" etc.

I don't see Siri in Mountain Lion though. I feel as though Apple is rushing with their 1-year release system. I don't see a 10.9, I believe after 10.8, Apple will go to 11.0, and it will be a major upgrade. We'll probably see touch screen iMac and Macbooks, and the main feature will be Siri.

Really? Really? Do you even think about these crazy ideas before typing them? Would you really want a touch screen iMac? If you have an iMac I dare you to touch its screen right now. Okay, now touch all over the screen. Now repeat that for 2-3 hours straight. I swear that your arm will feel like its gonna fall off.

There will never, I repeat, NEVER be a touch screen Mac. Why? Because the idea of it is so ridiculously stupid and impractical... I just no longer have any words to express how silly this idea is.

Its like its the last thing Apple fanboys think of. "How can we make Macs better? Hurr durr of course! Touch screens!". I saw this fan made concept of a touch screen Apple "iTV" once. A touch screen on a TV. People are so lazy that they need a REMOTE to change the channel and you expect them to get up from the couch and touch the TV? Not gonna happen. Ever.

The day that happens, Zombies will walk the earth and we'll be seeing four flying horses flying above the sky.

That'll be a long time from now because right now, Siri don't know that much.

While it is extremely doubtful that there will be touchscreen iMacs/MacBooks you don't have to be mean about it :)

I hope they do the microphone work on the next iPad so we can do Siri on iPad3. it will come to Mac sooner or later, but WHEN is a huge variable. There are problems of the mic/s and how the software works with the Cocoa based computer and if it is on the computer or across the servers.

It could be rolled out soon with a computer utilizing an internet connection to the Apple servers. However, I think it would start basic. Much basic function would be excellent--opening programs, starting and shutting down, playing music, searching, etc.--though most finer things would be useless in SIRI's hands. SIRI would be like an assistant that sets things up before you actually sit at the computer. It would free people SO MUCH. Anyone could be doing x,y,z while SIRI begins operations and sets up new documents or finds old documents and schedules or even takes dictation (though I'd trust no computer translation without editing).

The two most brilliant uses are to have hands-free computing (almost completely) in future and the negation of using keyboards for data entry. I'd put a stab at 2020 for the time when the software and processing wraps up a rather competent SIRI-type machine which will also properly edit and correct letters or messages or documents dictated... and it will read documents back to the recipients so they can spend time doing x,y,z in their office while the computer tells them about their email.

Now, the far future (beyond 2020) is a humanoid robot that can move like a human and think/speak like a human. SIRI, as it expands out, would be a major software gem for those humanoid robots presently growing closer to human-like movement and function. It will also help with hands-free cars which will be coming around the 2020s, if development works well.

SIRI will probably morph into other forms, but you can expect 2030 to be techriffic for gadget nerds. All that old sci-fi tech will be here... aside from anti-gravity.

I agree.

iTVs, though, would be interesting. Instead of a touch screen TV, they could build a touch-screen remote control or build an app for iPhone and iPad and iPod touch that turns it into a remote.

All the above things are likely to happen we can all agree on that. But knowing Apple they're gonna try to work out the major kinks before they continue to add more functionality to Siri. Hopefully ios 5.1 will play a big role in that
