The ipad; it's a ipod touch xl.
It's main focus is the mainstream market. Here is the good and the bad about the ipad and why I will buy one.
The Good:
Big Multitouch Display
$14.99 250mb 3G (Starting Price)
0.5 or Half an inch thin
Big Screen
1.6lb for 3G Model
Fast processor
Runs iphone os faster than any ipod or iphone to date.

The Bad:
No Camera
No Multitasking
Not pocketable

I think this is a device more aimed for the developer market/casual gamer.
This is going to be a great purchase to 1g Ipod Touch Users like me!
First off; it's got 3G for $14.99 with no contract! Sure Att sucks but their's no contract! Thats right it's prepay! That means Verizon fans you can get ipad! It has a mic and a speaker(the ipod touch 1g doesn't).

This was built for the Apps. Say if your fingers ever get tired of crunching on the ipod touch or iphone; problem solved! Developers can add more to apps, make apps bigger, make context menu boxes(like the new mail app)and much more. You can even call people through voip(the mic and speaker). Things i can do on this that make it worth it.
I can:
Play bigger more sophisticated apps; there's support for complete hand gestures.
Call people through voip.
Record my voice
Send texts through a free text app!

Everything is more touch friendly you could say. It's like an MS Surface. And multitasking? Apple, just like in the past they will probably add it as a software update(4.0) and charge $9.99 for it. If you want a camera wait until 2nd Generation. Overall it's a good deal. Maybe in June they will drop the price to 399.99 and include the 4.0 software for free and maybe up the processor to 1.2gz. Don't expect a new version until after September 21st 2010. I am going to wait until July and see if they don't add the 4.0 software for free and up the processor. I can see myself doing advanced gestures with my palms while playing a game or drawing.

For my personal needs, ipad doesn't really do anything that my iPod touch can't, other than the 3g option. If it was
standalone, I'd be interested, but no. Even if it had a camera I'd be interested. But no. It doesnt even have flash and yet claims to provide the best web experience.
It should be called the iJoke.

this will hopefully be replacing my 2g ipod touch, it has a cracked screen but still works, i often stare at the crack and rue the day that i dropped it. speaking of dropping gadgets i REALLY hope this thing can take a drop but honestly...looking at it doesn't inspire confidence.
