So I currently have a 13" MBP and I am thinking about perhaps trading it on craigslist for an iMac. I love my MBP but it is just too small for me and I honestly don't need the portability. What do you guys think? Also, which iMac (if its the right choice) should I trade for? My MBP is less than 4 months old, upgraded to a 1TB HDD and 8GB of RAM. It is running 10.7 and I am also going to include Final Cut Studios 3, Logic 9, and Photoshop.

Thanks!

Well, The iMacs are rumored to be updated within the next couple of months, so I wouldn't buy an iMac now. I would either

A)Wait till the iMacs come out then sell your MBP and take the money and buy the new iMac.

B)Keep your MBP and buy an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, if screen real estate is all you really need, this is the cheapest way, plus you can still take your computer on the go!

I have a 2010 MBP and I will be purchasing a 2011 iMac as well so I have the best of both worlds, plus it's always good to have two systems just in case one kicks the bucket.

Hope that helps

This.

I use my MBP with a Bluetooth keyboard, Magic Mouse, and a 24" monitor. I have my MBP sitting in a vertical stand so it doesn't take up much room on my desk. When I need to take my computer somewhere, I can.

10.7 aka Lion is not out yet unless you are having the developer preview and in this case you would violate NDA but perhaps you just made a typo.

And why would you include thousand plus of dollar worth of software which you could continue using on your iMac? Or, are you planning to just install it but keep the license yourself? In this case you make the buyer immediately a software pirate.

As for your Q. Calculate the total new cost of your MBP and compare it with the price an iMac in a certain configuration would have cost around the same time. Or, even easier, check on eBay what your MBP and iMacs sells for. This gives you real world answers as to compared here, me thinks.
