I don't see why anyone would make this thing. I'd say at least an hour or two was dedicated to creating this image. But why? One could also make a G5 skyscraper, or a G5 cardboard box.

Why not? Whoever made it was probably just having a bit of fun. It's quite possible it was made for some special occation, and doesn't make sense elsewhere.
Boy there would have to be a HELLUVA lot of fans in that thing to keep it cool in the middle of the desert! Or you could just liquid cool it by diverting the Nile through the middle...actually who am I kidding, you'd have to have both together.

who needs fans? Just put in a state of the art liquid cooling system.
