Dear forum members.


I've scoured through all the guides i can find but i can't find the answers to a few questions i have about unlocking iPhone.

I have a US iPHone bought in September which is a complete virgin and i have updated it completely and is now running 1.1.2. (I'm also using ITUNES 7.5. How does this affect things? can you post a link for the hack INDependence so i can se itunes 7.5?)

Do i need to downgrade to 1.1.1 and then follow the steps a la http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15849 ???

And then once that link is finished i end up with a hacked 1.1.1 right? then do i upgrade via iTunes to 1.1.2, which if i understand correctly will re-lock everything. then you use this guide http://www.winandmac.com/mobile/iphone/macfirst-ultimate-guide-unlock-iphone-112/ to jailbreak/unlock 1.1.2

Is this right? hope so.


more importantly, if i want to go back to a virginised iPhone again, do i just restore back to 1.1.2 via iTunes? or say i need to take it to the apple store, how do i get 'rid' of the hack?

The new release of iNdependence, released ~5 hours ago, should work properly with iTunes 7.5 without needing the MobileDevice thing from 7.4.2.

If I were you, I would downgrade down to 1.1.1 (along with the baseband) and use jailbreakme.com.

While in 1.1.1 and jailbroken with jailbreakme.com, install OktoPrep, then upgrade to 1.1.2. When that's done, use the .jar file in that winandmac guide to jailbreak and install Installer. Put anySIM 1.2.1u (either through adding an Installer source that has it, or by downloading it to your computer and SSHing it into your iPhone) onto your phone. TURN AIRPLANE MODE ON, and then run anySIM. When anySIM is done, turn airplane mode off, and you should have an unlocked phone.

Use this to virginize your phone. Don't think it works with the 1.1.2 baseband though, so you might have to downgrade your phone to use it.
