Seriously. This is mind boggling. I just bought a 2009 Saturn Vue. Got the communications package so it DOES have Bluetooth. Got the iPhone to pair automatically with the vehicle once I enter it and phone calls are automatically routed through the speaker system and built in (hidden, WHERE IS THAT THING LOL) microphone. That all works fine. Now, since it could do all this and since iPhone 3.0 (3GS) supports A2DP, I was thinking I SHOULD be able to play my music wirelessly. Lo and behold, I can't seem to get it to work. At all. Yet calls are crystal clear over Bluetooth. Why is this? I'd friggin be pulling my hair out if I didn't already shave my head.....

The hell up with your subject title?

Well, I suppose it depends on what Bluetooth profiles they included. Did you research it before you bought this communications package, or did you just assume it included A2DP?

Lol. Bought the comm. package mainly for wireless phone calls. Witless music was an afterthought. If A2DP isn't a possible firmware upgrade, I'll just have to spend money on a MOTOROKR T505. Unfortunately.

What vehicles support A2DP then? Is this something GM (or Saturn) may be able to release an update to enable in the future?

I don't think many cars have the A2DP profile, though I haven't been car shopping recently to support this with hard data. My BMW does not have it, though it works just fine with my iPhone for calling functions, including voice dialing.

GM might be able to enable it, but I don't see them doing it. It would require a trip to a dealership to update the firmware for your car and unless it's part of a recall or some other safety issue, I can't picture them just offering a free upgrade like that out of pure generosity. Once a car model is on the market, I'm pretty sure that GM and other manufacturers are focused on the future cars they want to produce, not making the old ones better unless they're forced to for some reason...

The first problem is you brought a Saturn and admit it:D
The second problem is the understanding of what BT profile does what.

Lmao. Hey, this is my first Saturn (and I like it). First GM vehicle actually. Had a Ford Taurus and Ford Explorer before

We've got a Saturn Vue, and it has an Aux In port on the front face of the radio. We use a stereo cable, works great with iPods and my iPhone.

Does yours have the same port?

Yeah I was just joking. Nothing wrong with Saturn. They survived right? This no A2DP is disturbing. Like Apple with A2DP but no AVRCP.

How did you get voice dialling to work? As far as I know, the BT module on the iPhone does not support voice commands.

Uh...sort of?

They've been sold to another company that doesn't actually make cars at the moment. (Kind of a problem, I guess.) GM will make the cars for them until 2011, but after that they're looking for someone else to help them actually, you know, build cars. Once they figure out that little detail they "hope" to bring the Saturn brand back and sell cars again.

So we'll just have to wait and see how it goes to know if they 'survived' or not.

Uh yeah, thanks, I get the paper too. I was just making a little jokey joke with the OP, which I believe he got. Anyway the question at hand is A2DP in a Saturn not a history lesson on GM and Saturn. But thanks for providing the lesson.

I got the bluetooth on my 2009 Cobalt to play my iPhones music.

THIS site will help you get it working with the iPhone but for now it is down. There is a trick to get it to work and I only tried it once with my car but my car has the iPod dock so I don't need to use the bluetooth anyways. 2009 was the first year GM included bluetooth.

Don't for a moment think that Roger Penske bought that company without a plan. Penske is one of the smartest owners in racing, and owns one of the largest car dealer networks in the world. They may get made in China, but I'm sure they'll get made.

Thanks for jumping in there with some reasonable insight. I think the poster wanted to 'school' me with his extensive GM knowledge which he apparently thought was unknown to the public.:D

Ok I'm schooled:p
