The developer is likely continuing development on both apps. But it sounds a lot like he got tired of giving information only to have people get disappointed when he didn't meet the timeframe. My guess is that he is just shutting up until he has something to show for it.
The Mac app has had 2 releases both just extending the beta period. In all likelihood he has a few new features in the final 1.0, one of which is syncing with the iPhone app.
Quite frankly the market for this type of app is so big that I don't think he has any worry. The few people he's pissed off by not saying anything to is small in comparison to the larger picture. And people are growing increasingly tired of Cultured Code and Things.
I'd say hang in there, odds are it'll be released soon enough and it'll be very good if the Mac app is any indication.
