The "I held an iPad with a goofy smile on face for 5 mins the first time" thread

I went into the 5th ave Apple Store yesterday and held on with a dumbfounded look and feel. Being a geek rocks!

Mainly because I know I won't be getting one until I need one (which is next year, when rev B will come out, but besides the point)...also because it was pure epic, kind of like the feeling you get when you fired up your Mac for the first time.

Anyone else, even when you used it for the first time at home?

Me, and my boyfriend did the same tonight when he got to "meet" one at Best Buy.

Oh yes. As soon as the UPS guy started walking away from the house, my roommate and I let out a scream for joy. When I opened the box, I couldn't stop smiling - it literally hurt. I had a look of child-like joy that could not be erased. Then I held the thing and turned it on... wow. I'll never forget that moment.

Hell yes! After I activated it, I smiled for 2 days straight practically because I had a shiny new iPad I'm still smiling! Lol

I did this today at Best Buy. Admittedly, I was very skeptical of the iPad, but my 5 or so minutes with it were... magical (yep, I said it!). Using iWork (particularly Keynote) is actually a lot of fun.

I'm purposefully avoiding the Apple store and Best Buy until my 3G arrives so my first exposure to it will be mine fresh out of the box.

Can't wait to have the same experience. =-)

This is begining to piss me off, with living in the UK and waiting for the 3G model. I could eb waiting and trolling these threads for a long time

Oh, yes! When they took the drapes off the windows at the apple store on Saturday morning, we all gazed in wonder at the gorgeous iPad now displayed before us. I heard a lot of "ooh!" and "wow!" comments as I stood there staring, a beatific expression on my face. When we got into the store I headed right to the first display iPad I spotted, gently touched it, tenderly picked it up and hugged it, squealing, "it's so BEAUTIFUL!". I think the entire store heard me, and probably half of the mall as well!

I smiled throughout the transaction, smiled all the way home, I smiled as I unwrapped everything, I smiled all afternoon at work......and days later,as I type on my iPad while still in bed,I am still smiling.

It's so BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

I gotta admit I was not that excited til I went to the store and picked it up. I fell in love right then and there! and yeah I had a dumb smile for about 10 minutes lol

I went to my local Apple Store excited but not expecting any surprise since I had read all the reviews, looked at all the pics and watched all the guided tours.

It's a much different experience when I held it in my hands. Much like the iPhone, the iPad will steadily sell more and more units as iPad owners share it with family and friends. It really makes you want one!
