I'm a foreign exchange student studying in China and I'm really looking forward to getting an iPad. I'm extra hopeful it'll be sold here as well since the Chinese Apple site has had an iPad page ever since the iPad was announced, although it wouldn't be too much of a problem since I can just get one from the states (as long as there aren't any serious compatibility problems).
Apple products have worldwide warranty, and there's an Apple store nearby, so I'm not really worrying about it not working. But is there any chance that an iPad bought in China will be more suitable than an American iPad? I'm heading back to the states in a year and a half, so if it's not too big of a disadvantage, I'd be fine with it.
Any news on 3G data consumption in China? China Mobile uses their own homebrew standard, but I don't believe China Unicom supports Micro SIMs. Anyone have more info on that?
And since I have an American iTunes Account, could I buy books from the iBookstore? Would a VPN circumvent the limitation? Are there any legal implications with doing this?
