The only thing is the iPhone SE came out alongside the iPhone 7, so the chronology doesn't quite work out, but everything else does! The iPhone SE is the missing 9th "generation" iPhone

Interesting. Imo the 8 and 8 Plus are the 7s and 7s Plus.

As you mentioned, the chronology doesn't work out. It's also to difficult to consider it a "9th generation" iPhone when it has first generation Touch ID and same modem and antenna setup as iPhone 6.

It’s actually a mix of 5S, 6 and 6S parts so I wouldn’t consider it 9th generation
