Yay!

My wife's Thinkpad died (well, almost--it's developed the habit of freezing if you type too hard on it). I've got a Macbook Air on the way -- 1.8GHz, 80GB -- to save the day. I got an Airport Express to set up at her office giving her wireless internet and printer. She'll be able to walk in, open it up, and start working--no more plugging the printer and ethernet cords in. And the mag-safe power cord is easier use, too. And the battery lasts longer. Hmmm, I'll need to get another power adapter, though, so she can leave one at work.

I got the Superdrive, too, although I suspect we might not need it.

I need to find a slim-yet-padded sleave that's really easy to use so she can throw it in her (soft) briefcase. Anyone have a suggestion?

She's a little suspicious of switching to the Mac, but for a couple years now whenever I've needed to fix her computer I've been telling her, "because it's Windows."

Why does it boot so slow? Because it's Windows.
Why do I have to reboot all the time? Because it's Windows.
Why does it boot more and more slowly? Because it's Windows.
Why do I get all this adware? Because you'll troll any dirty corner of the internet for celebrity gossip... and because it's Windows.

Ew I never considered IBM laptops the king of anything. Besides Acers, Dells, and Alienwares I fixed IBMs the most. (I guess that makes them 4th in line). Congrats on the macbook air! I really want one but it doesnt suit my needs as I need a smaller laptop for travel (asus eeePC fit the bill perfectly!)

This made me laugh -- thanks! My wife does the same, and ever since she moved from her Vaio (pre-me) to a Mini, she has not had a problem with adware/spyware. I can not tell you how infested her Vaio was!

I made a similar switch, I actually just put my x61t Thinkpad up for sale today. Already my girlfriend is insinuating that she wants an Air once her Thinkpad T41 wears out.

If I time it right hopefully I can pass mine on to her right around the time the Air 2.0 comes out.... :)

And to the guy who says Alienwares break less them Thinkpads, you must be joking. There is a reason every company you can think of issues Thinkpads to their employees. It isnt speed, it isnt looks and it sure isnt price. They are consistently more reliable then the competition.
