Well friends, tonight I will be bidding farewell to a good friend of mine.

Thor was sold to an older businessman, but won't officially be in his possession till probably Thursday of this week.

Tomorrow morning, I embark to Toronto to pick up my black MacBook.

This PowerBook has got me though some tough times. We've been through it all... breakups, family trouble, other personal issues, and all the while, the little Finder icon was smiling at me, never forgetting the huge part it has played in my life.

It all began when I picked this laptop up while I was working at an Apple educational reseller. I got a really good deal on it, and maxed out the RAM. Ever since, it's been nothing but smooth sailing. I can say I do love this machine, but it's time for something more portable.

I plan on teaching English in Korea this fall, and I need something I can move around with easily. I will be purchasing a 20" ACD to hook up my new blackbook to while editing photos and such.

And so friends, a toast, to Thor.
:apple:

Edit: After reading this over, I am a bit teary-eyed. I knew this would happen.

Lamina! I just got rid of my trusty iBook and got a BlackBook last week. I was a bit sad and got a bit teary too, but it was time. You are gonna LOVE the BlackBook- take it from me.

EDIT- believe me- I felt the same way about my iBook. It never once gave me one bit of trouble and took quite a beating over the years. I sold it to a co-worker, so at least I still get to see it from time to time. :)

My PowerBook was bareback all its life baby. It's the only way to go.

I am now typing on my new black MacBook, and I must say... well.. WOW. Wow. Yeah. I like. Wow.

It doesn't really feel like 'mine' right now... know what I mean?

Unboxing/orgasm pics to come.

PS: Lee, I am glad we are in the same situation. But isn't the black one just sooo damn sweet?

As much as i'd like a new Intel machine to cope better with these enormous 35mm and medium format scans that i'm retouching, I just can't justify it as my PowerBook is running so well and has been for 3 years solid!

Farewell Thor!

EDIT: That was my 1,000th post, and quite a fitting one i'd say!

It IS. I was really surprised at how much I liked it. I was also really surprised by how quick it was (whenever you try the ones in the store, they're never as good) and how unbelievably light it is. That was my big thing- I take my laptop everywhere, every day so it helps a lot. It feels like I'm carrying nothing as compared to the 14" iBook. Last, but not least- the black coating. Love it, just love it!
