The iMac obviously needs a redesign. Its probably coming in 2016 but who knows. The bezels and the aluminium 'iBeard' just have to go.

Light 3D work i do, i know whipping up a metal(ish) box device is not going to take any time at all for those proficient in modelling. So how about a thread where we all chip in and design a new iMac from scratch?

It will work like this: The first person to post up a design will have it critiqued by anyone interested in the thread. Then, they can either make the changes themselves or someone else can implement the changes.

Very simple.

Think of it like version control for a new iMac design.

Anyone interested? We are all geeks here so don't be embarrassed. :)

I dunno, I like the look of the iMac, maybe because I'm fairly new owner, but I'm happy with it. I also wouldn't say its obvious that a redesign is needed. I don't like how thin it is, I think it was silly for apple to make the iMac so thin, but overall, I'm happy with the look, fit and finish of the iMac :)
