I lay back on my bed, but a pillow on my chest, my MBP on top of that and throw on my epic headphones...in about 5 mins your brain will get immersed and it feels like an IMAX Laser theater and then my phone goes off and I'm like "HEY COME ON" and then I realize it can only be me lol

Using a PRO machine for consumer use. How gosh! According to some propeller heads on here you should have opted for 128 Gig and 4TB SSD to be really on the ball.

your money, not sure why anyone would care what machine you bought and how you use it. Apple throws "pro" into the name to entice you to get the "best". Of course they muddy the water with ultra and max. I have an M1 Max and am a "pro" user by definition, I make my living on my Mac using Adobe CC. I like my MacBook Pro a lot, great machine and best apple computer I have ever owned. I think if I was going for purely a machine to use for browsing, YouTube and movies, I would probably go with an MacBook Air just for the smaller form factor. I think the screens are the same, save for brightness.

I know I am going to take a lot of heat for this, but I love consuming media on my 16 M3 Pro machine. Movies and Youtube content are great. I know this machine is supposed to be for pro developers.....but if I had to do it over again, I would indeed spend $2K just for the ability to watch my content.

I spent USD400 more than that back in 2015 for my mid-13"-Pro, and that's mostly all I do with it.

heck . . . for that matter, I've not actually powered-it-On in over four months 🤷‍♂️

Im with you on this, I have the 16" m3 max which is even more over the top but as I don't watch any tv I feel its justifiable to spend 4k on a machine that I use 24/7.

Youtube, Twitch and so on, even multiple streams at once. And as I always have loads of tabs on the go, the 48gb ram will come in handy.

The screens are physically very different. The Air is LCD while the Pros use a miniLED backlight. However, Apple does an excellent job calibrating the displays and many people won’t be able to see much of a difference in most day-to-day use.

There's no such thing as "Pro" only use. Lots of enthusiasts/hobbyists, etc buy prograde stuff all the time in every segment of products. Typically because it offers a better whatever. Be it more heavy duty, higher quality components, better fit and finish. Like Obsessed Garage is a car care and garage centric enthusiast and he curates the best of(in his opinion) for this particular segment of automotive centric enthusiast. Like using what was once regarded as Industrial Pressure Washer for home use car washing. And many other things. And you can apply this to just about most things. So have at it. Enjoy your laptop for whatever you do.

The MBP is not specifically meant for "pro developers." It is meant for anyone who seeks to explore new intellectual and artistic horizons while also immersing in the frivolity of the carefree and mundane. To that end, all us us can make use of the MBP.
