well it was a complete PITA to do but its all done, I dont really post much here but i thought you guys would enjoy it

This is what happens when truck geeks get bored

Pretty sweet. How'd you go about painting it? Did you remove the top and bottom case first before painting?

took everything apart. I really really dont recommend doing unless youve taken apart quite a few notebooks before and label all the screws. each screw is a differant size and apple really makes it a PAIN IN THE ***

then i sanded it all down with 400grit, taped off the keyboard, touchpad and apple logo.

did two coats of base with 4 coats of clear

Hmmm... I have a MBP and have been wonderin if it was possible to get a dark Navy blue anodized paint job on it :) Anyone know of anyway of doing this/anyone that does it and if it would void the warranty?

I gotta say this is pretty cool. I myself wouldn't even dream of attempting this... not because I wouldnt like it or not think it's cool, it's because, much like what the OP said:

1) Im paranoid that id never get it back together right,

2) I cant imagine how long that would actually take to complete, thus making it a PITA. :)

Great work though, looks amazing!

It's gorgeous! :)

Does it have a high-gloss / smooth sort of texture to it? Did you have to buff / polish the clearcoat or just apply the four coats and then be done with it?

I think you should go into business! :D I might send you a DS Lite... :p

Now I think you need to do the opposite, and paint a picture of your Macbook onto your truck. :p
