Aynone's wife absolutely hate that you have the iPad? I know she will come around, but the fact that, even though I could be reading the Wall Street Journal or War and Peace on the thing, to her it's just me "having my face in front of the computer" for more hours a day. Of course I could be doing the same thing reading tree pulp and she souldn't say a word.

Wow, that sucks. My wife loves this thing and now wants one of her own. It is a wise idea to let her play with it ;-).

Your wife doesn't hate that you have an iPad. She unhappy and hurt that you ignore her so much and spend more time in a virtual world than you do with her.

My wife tolerates me having an iPad. She is satisfied with her iPhone so doesn't want her own.

East fix:

Always buy her the latest iDevice too and you'll be fine. I can't tear my wife away from her iPhone/iPad!

LOL, I'm hoping that since it's at home with her whil I'm at work she will secretly fall in love with it - just being able to have it "instant on" and be able to get into Safari without waiting for the laptop to boot will bring her around. Last night she was looking for info on the TV about the earthquake in Cali and I brought up the NYT story for her to read. When I handed it to her I could tell it pained her that it was that quick/easy for me to give it to her.

She's like this about everything, though.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, my G/F feels the same way its another computer in my face :p

Wait for the second generation and buy two. If it has a front-facing camera and the ability to videochat you can actually have a conversation with her, even is she's right next to you.

My wife tolerates it too, but my 4 year old daughter loves it!

Ha, my kids (3 and 5) love Plants vs. Zombies. Putting my 3 year old to sleep last night and he whispers "Dad, I'm going to dream about zombies." Of course he thinks they are just funny looking guys that plants shoot.

My fiance hates it, so I put it on craigslist for $900 to ease her nerves. That way, she'll either get over it by the time the listing's up or I'll sell it and make $300. Win-win :D

Wait a few weeks, give wife iPad WiFi, buy yourself iPad 3G. :)

This is my justification for buying the wifi on Saturday, even though I have the 3G on pre-order. She does have a Kindle and this will replace that, so hopefully she'll come around. I did the same thing with the iPhone and it didn't take her long to get hooked on that.

My wife was only pissed when I made it appear that I wouldn't get her 1. The whole "1 for the family" thing doesn't work in my house because I travel a lot. Once she found out that she was getting her own, everything was cool. She uses it a lot more than I do.

I reserved one when the first reservations were allowed. Told my wife, and she said fine, but wasn't interested. Even showed her them on the Apple site at the time.

Fast forward to Saturday. Time to go to the mall and pick it up. My wife goes with me, then as we are standing in line, starts to get all pouty about the fact she wants one and I didn't say how cool they were etc..

Luckily when our turn came to go in, the associate asked how many we had reserved. "One" says I. "Only one?" says the associate. "Well, if we can get another for my wife that would be great, but I only reserved one." "No problem!"

So, now we have two iPads, and a happy wife!

I suppose I should have seen it coming.... Two iPod touches, two iPhones...........

well it is true that every minute we spend with a new device does take away a minute from our loved ones.

My wife loves it. She encoraged me to get one(I think I've worn her down over the years on gadgets) and now wants her own.

At first she thought it was a waste of money that I would even buy an iPad. Well that changed suddenly when I bought her a 64GB wifi. She loves it to the point where I don't get to use it. :( But I have my 64GB+3G on order. Hopefully apple announces a date when they will be released. My money is on April 24th.

Why would you need more than one? Are you planning to be on it all the time where you can not share it?

i'd say my girlfriend spent more time with my iPad in the past 2 days then me. this is pretty funny to me since she thought i was stupid for me having to have this device first day.

...or she could be unhappy that he does anything that doesn't involve her. Or she doesn't like computers at all. Or maybe she has an ego the size of Texas that needs constant attention ;)

My wife bought me the iPad so she doesn't mind me using it. She would much rather me lay in bed with it versus the computer because at least I can massage her while I'm playing.

I've been using her back as an iPad stand and this morning she moved and the iPad fell on my face, haha, well she was the only one laughing.
