Well I wouldn't say it was new and I wouldn't say it was limited to iMacs.

In fact IMO having owned or own

eMac
mac mini (x4)
iMac (x2)
iPhone (x3)
iPad

I would say the only flawless product was the eMac. All the rest (bar iPad) have had major issues within 18 months.

The iPad has a yellow screen, light bleed and a mis-aligned bezel, but it works great!

Apple quality despite the fanfares has nearly always been poor in my opinion.

I haven't purchased a worse brand.

It took me 4 imacs... this one buzzes ocassionally but silent hard drive so i will keep it...

I can understand that if it doesn't annoy you. Thing for me is that I have mine in the front room and like the screen to dim when not using it even for a short time and its audible across the room

Fortunately, I don't have any of these issues with my new i5 iMac. See my post a few hours ago.

Ha ha ha .... you're hilarious. I love it.

Keep up the good work. Man...so good.....:D

I have a late 2009 iMac and I don't suffer from any of the issues that seem to be so common around here. No yellow screen, no buzzing, no dead pixels. My Mac is perfectly fine.

Though I acknowledge that problems do exist, I think that these problems are exaggerated on forums such as these. One person mentions a yellow screen issue and suddenly every iMac owner is "testing" their screen. The slightest bit of color differentiation is grounds to label Apple's quality control as horrible.

I bet you could find quality issues with a $2,000 LCD or plasma television, too. We shouldn't expect absolute perfection.

Bet you couldn't.'

try One Thousand. Most iMac I have seen at the applestore have the problem, and the imac I am on right now has it.

well I have gone through 5 in total this year and last and never had a yellow screen... even when i LOOKED super hard with those dumb tests, and no my eyes are perfectly fine. I know a bad screen when i see one and to be honest in all the stores i have ever been and all the imacs i have seen, 1 had a slightly non uniform backlight.

just my experience, maybe you just get bad luck like I did with other issues

I have a new 21.5 inch 3.2 GHz iMac. The display is perfect in every way. I am not surprised, as the display of every iMac in the Apple Store was also perfect. And my color vision is damned good, I assure you.

Maybe some of you guys need to get your eyes checked.

Yea everyone with problems are blind deaf and dumb

I have a new iMac 27" i7 that came with a 1TB WD hdd. Does not make a lot of noise, only a slight humming which you can hardly hear.
No lost pixel and yellow glow problems .
So maybe I was lucky, bought it on line at the Apple Store in the Netherlands.

peterwillem:)

just purchased my first imac a week ago. so far no yellow screen and no buzzing. i guess i got lucky as mine also has a WD hd in it and not the noisy seagate that i have been reading about.

And yet you keep spending more to buy them.

Why?

^^^This. Anyone who has returned their iMac 4 or 5 times for noises the machine makes that are common to the entire product line is just a weirdo. Dude, after the 3rd return, if your not satisfied go get a Dell all-in-one. I'm sure those have no problems and are awesome in every way :pLOL;)

As with the iPhone 4, if you don't like it, return it! 98% of all Apple owners love their products - Just look at the numbers...

In my experience, the biggest problem during the past few months was dirt and scratches on their products. Out of say 10 different products, all of them had scratches and dirt on them (new, right out of the box).

lol the noise is a fault PSU in some cases - yeah just live with it...surely that person would be the fool? Especially when it goes wrong completely further down the line.

Returning mine for a refund - love iMac's when they work well, but can't spend another 2 weeks without a machine then get yet another with such a high chance of a fault for £1900....I guess some people are just happy with shoddy QC

Maybe...or it's somebody firing up their new iMac and pressing their ear to the back to listen for any small noise that can be construed as abnormal (at least that's how I picture it).

If I start turning over rocks in a desert, I may find snakes and scorpions. Maybe it's wise to not try and turn over every rock looking for trouble and just enjoy your stroll in the sun;)

I've owned 2 MacBooks, this iMac, and 3 iPhones over the past 4 years and never once had a problem with any of them. If you go by MR Forums and this thread, you'd think Apple is just pumping loads and loads of faulty junk off their assembly line. Not true.

That's almost as stupid as saying because there are no wars in your country wars do not exist. You actually think people enjoy finding faults with hardware they pay a lot of good money for?

Oh and not that you'll believe it, but it turned out it was a faulty PSU - a fault that if you search you will find has been the case for a number of people. Replacing the PSU fixes the buzzing issue, you know - the one you don't think actually exists....I never said it was common for most people, but quality control has hit a low when people return things 4/5 times before getting a decent machine.

fair point but in mitigation, the only recent products were the iPhones and the iPad.

The iPhones were work supplied (luckily I have a berry now) and the ipad I bought for the wife.

lovely hardware, awful software.

knock on wood, or aluminum enclosure, i seem to have a error free imac.
-i7 with 2tb drive shipped to California

although its only been 6 days, but everything seems to work fine..no weird noises, no dead pixels, no yellow tint

great product, not perfect, but happy with my purchase...sorry to those that are having problems
