The new Finder takes up more horizontal space...

Craig says the new Finder has a more space efficient toolbar, but its not space efficient if the controls are hidden. In fact, the default Finder window size is soooo wide, because the buttons take up so much horizontal space.

Yep, it's a loss of information density and a functional regression caused by bad design. File a Radar on it, I have. I'm not very hopeful they'll fix this ******** tbh but it's all we can do.

So what? We (mostly) have widescreen displays on our Macs and it saves a little space vertically.

what about when you plug an iPhone to your Mac? is already showing proper file management or continues to show a similar useless info and actions like iTunes?

Do you see those two arrows on the far right in Catalina? That’s showing there are hidden tools at that window size.
