Can't say I like the new keyboard.

If you like typing on a laptop, I suppose it's great. If you are used to a regular keyboard, not so much.

Form over function in the highest.

Mine's going back.

I have disagree with the "form over function" criticism of the new 'board. I can type much faster on this new laptop style set-up. I also think the new function key layout is much more efficient. Overall, I think this new keyboard will help my productivity.

As for its design, I think this is the greatest design that Apple has come out with in terms of keyboards. I am also of the opinion that there are few companies that have products that would tempt me away from the new Apple 'board -- and I have yet to find one of these seducers in the same price range. Opinions do vary, though.

I went from the standard keyboard that came w/ my G5 to the Matias Tactile Pro keyboard. It's a mechanical keyswitch board with a real click to it, like the old Apple Pro keyboards. I will say that my typing on it, though more enjoyable by far, is slightly slower. I am more prone to mistakes with that much keytravel, for some reason.

Similarly, I find I can type faster on this new flat Apple Keyboard than the Tactile Pro. The latter is still an excellent keyboard, however, and I am taking it in to the office to use w/ my KVM'ed Mac mini / PC workstation setup at the desk.

Eh, the best keyboard in my office is still on my Apple //c. :)

I am waiting for Best Buy to get the new KB. I would like the opportunity to try it out first before purchasing it.

While the last KB is fine, the keys are a bit noisy. I've read that the new KB is much quieter so if that's true and if I feel comfortable using it, then I'm sold.

It is nearly silent. The only quieter keyboards I've ever heard belong to a Timex Sinclair 1000 and Atari 400.

I have used the new keyboard and I must say that I like the old one much better. It feels more comfortable IMO. Plus, the old keyboard was wireless and it had all of the keys in the wireless version. It also matches my imac :)

I dont know about yall, but I'm waiting for the BT version of the new keyboard. I think it'd look very sexy with the MBP, going along with the whole brushed aluminum theme and all.

great design, but the keys have slightly rougher surface than the ones on my macbook so they make a scraping noise when my fingers brush over them ..

ALSO, only if Apple would fix the dashboard and expose keys .. they don't seem to work after the 1.1 keyboard update and it IS a widespread problem (head over to Apple discussions and search for new keyboard problems)

other than that .... wonderful really wonderful!!!

Strange that, soon as I installed it, rebooted those keys work.

ohhh ok, i didnt know that they already had a BT version out. I wont buy it yet anyways. All i have is a white ibook and black dell monitor! it wouldnt go with anything at all :)

Ah. Nice pictures.

I still love that good old IIgs keyboard. The sounds and responsiveness are a Apple equivalent of the IBM "Clicky" plunger keyboards. I always found the larger Mac Plus, or the built-in IIe, et al keyboards to be too stiff. Haven't used a IIc :)p) but it looks like a mixture of IIe and IIgs keyboards.

Oddly, I find the MacBook's keyboard, and I'd imagine these new ones, to be a nice compromise between modern keyboards and those old keyboards.
