I'm not sure about the whole IOS 10 thing on the whole, there is just something odd that has changed which makes it look dated. However the News app is the worst, it's style has gone back to like 2004 or something, there is a lot of wasted space, weird rounded edges and large text.... in IOS 9 it was all square pictures side by side, the text was smaller, they fit a lot more in, it felt a lot more modern and more light. The new one ironically feels more clutters but has less displayed. IOS 9 News reminds me of when I used Blinkfeed on the HTC One M7 in 2013, but the new one is like MSN Messenger news from 2004...

I just don't like it.

+ What is up with not being able to use the touch id sensor when you get a notification or raise to wake? You have to still press the button in........ whats the point in Raise to wake or Touch Id then? I wanted them so I didn't have to press it and I could bypass a broken button lol.

Funny. the new news app (and related widget) are one of the new updates that I use the most.

It's not as good as the old one and I don't see the widget as useful, it takes as many taps on the screen to view as just viewing the app and it shows less information.... what's the point? If it was a Live Tile like thing on Windows Phone, then great, but widgets suck on IOS still, they're too many steps to view them.

I'm rolling back any ways, IOS 9 News app is far superior.

I really like the new News app, perhaps because I've always loved the Flipboard-style layout.

It's easy to see why one would like the previous News app better, with its more functional layout of more stories on the screen.

But everything changes at some point to adopt a more modern style; we all should know by now that you just gotta roll with technology.

I just don't like it.

You are not the only one. The new News app has removed everything I liked about the old app. When the iOS 9 News app appeared I immediately switched to it for everything. It was exactly what I wanted: a chronologically ordered list of news items. If I had a complaint, it would be that I prefer reading oldest to newest, but I managed. That and I could never predict whether it was going to jump to the top on an update or not.

That is all effectively gone now. In its place is what I never cared for in other news apps. Someone's idea of 'trending', things grouped by category instead by time. No way to get back to the old layout.

OK, I thought, I still have iOS 9 devices. I will just read my news on one of those. Nope - it has been changed everywhere.

So after a brief period of relative perfection I am right back to my old reliable RSS aggregater.

A.

My biggest complaint, and perhaps one that has a solution that I don't understand, is that there's no dedicated "home" button. Often, when reading an article, I'll follow links within said article, and can sometimes wind up four or five articles removed from the main screen. I'd love for there to be a one tap way to get back there, as opposed to continually tapping the back arrow...

Half the articles basically ask you to do the pull down thing and see the original page, so you do that, but you're still in News (are you?)...it's a cluster, like, I clicked this thing to read this but now I need to go yet somewhere else to do so, and before I get there, everything in the app I wanted to stay in is bolded and huge and disgusting.

It's simple... having things in chronological order, I saw some news articles in my feed 3 or 4 times before enough news came out to push them far enough down the list. Now, with this whole categorical system, I mis at least 3-4 articles every day that I find later in the favorite topics tabs. It's a lot of unnecessary digging and wasted time. No news app should decide what I want to read for me. Then there's no option to arrange what topics you put first in the feed? Wth apple? It's trash.
