The new 'un-unlockable' iPhones...

So I just bought a brand new iPhone on the street off some guy in Brooklyn thinking I could unlock it and run it on T-Mobile... No Dice...

It's brand new, and has the 5.9 bootloader shipped with it, and therefore is unable to be downgraded to baseband xx.28.xx, It's stuck on 02.30.03 so no Unlock... (for now???)

I have it jailbroken and hacktivated... but..

My question is, is it likely that when the 3.0 software comes out, will hackers (Dev-Team) have an unlock procedure for the phone?

Will I ever be able to unlock and run this new iPhone 3g on a non At&t network?? (ie. T-mobile)

I know they have their own issues, but are there not TurboSIM type devices out right now that unlock 02.30.03?

Yeah...

Yes I've heard their are turbo sims, but I've also heard they are VERY unreliable, so much so that your call is dropped when you travel from one tower to another and I live in a big city so I'm allways changing towers

Does anyone know if this is true, do turbo sims work well, at all?? which one should I buy if so.?

Also i just learned my bootloader is 6.04 .... does that mean its going to take even longer for this phone to be unlocked???

Hey, I also bought iphone on friday in Manhattan but mine came with 5.8 bootloader. I guess I lucked out. My baseband is at 2.28.00 after about 30 minutes of work.

There are different sim adapters. Some of them are crap and some of them work really good. There are couple of European sites selling sim adapters that according to reviews work very good but they tend to be expensive ($25 - $50). Some of them can even be programmed with new software. Givey cards that are sold on ebay for less $10 don't have really good track record.

I'm also in brooklyn. I have one old turbo-sim card that I had when i had my previous iphone and it worked great. not sure if it works with new baseband but you are welcome to try it out. PM me if you want.
