Ok, so I'm new to the world of buying Macs, but I have my eye on the new iMac. However, I'd just like to know if the 200-odd days until the next update thing on the Buyer's Guide refers to major hardware changes (e.g. new graphics cards or quad-core) or to an entire new aesthetic?

Nobody really knows until it happens, but I can't see them redesigning the case this time around.

It may get thinner and/or the chin may recede, but this basic design will be in play for some time to come. It's still new.

Ah thanks for that info. So can I assume that the Buyer's Guide is referring to major hardware changes? I suppose that would make sense because people are talking about the mobile Quad-Core CPU becoming available by the end of the year. I wonder what kinds of graphics cards we can look forward to. It's a shame you can only get the 8800GS with the 24" model. That's far too big for my needs.

Size does matter for Apple :p:D.
