I posted this in the C2D MBP thread but it got quickly buried under about 50,000 replies.

Apple owes me a new MBP w/ $200 worth of HDD bumps (200GB) but I'm not sure I feel comfortable in a 4,200 RPM drive. Unfortunately, I cant afford the $300 difference to upgrade to the 2.33 version PLUS a 160GB HDD (if they would even let me).

Woe to me.
What shall I do?

I hear talk that the 4200 RPM drive is equal to the 5400 RPM drives. True?

How about the extra .17 ghz and 128 Mbytes of VRAM?

Well... I sometimes like to bring a FCP project with me. Its also nice to have a few games all my music, aperture library, livetype media, and all 20GB of X-plane.

At the same time... 4200 RPM????? What is Apple thinking? Does perpendicular recording really increase the speed that much? Is it a toshiba drive???

Finally, I wonder how future proof It will be if its between more storage or a better GFX/CPU setup...

Upgrade for 200 bucks? Are you saying we can trade in our MBPsfor the C2D? That's too good to be true Apple would not do that. Thing Is i am waiting for a replacement of my MBP, and it has not been ordered yet so I wnt to pay on top and order a new one :) :(

Apple owes me one because mine's been repaired for the same issue over and over again. Its gotten to the point where they usually just replace it.
