I as you may have noticed, have purchased a PowerBook due to PowerManagement issues known with Intel+Mac. But post here about your new C2D MacBook!

The big question I have is, What's the drop going to be for the refurb Core Duo Macbooks? If they take the kind of drop that the MBP took, I'll take two.

From the press release:

The new MacBook is available immediately through the Apple Store® (http://www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers.

I actually wanted to buy a MBP but figured that this would save me about $1000 SGD.

Gonna get a BlackBook with 2GB RAM and a 200GB HD.

US store is still down (not that I'm buying one anyway).

I would like to grab a refurb CD to replace my PowerBook and hold me over till a faster MacBook Pro. If not for that i would ignore this update as well.

The Apple retail stores can't upgrade the HD correct (only RAM)? I want a 200GB HD as well but I think I have to order it online.....So happy I waited - could care less about the C2D, but the HD bump is great news!

The obligatory no one in this thread has a C2D MacBook, so what's obligatory, the thread? Or posting in it? I don't get it....

The refurbs didn't drop as much as I had hoped. Well, I guess I don't feel as bad about buying mine a month ago, but I won't be buying another one anytime soon.

I just took delivery of my C2D MacBook!

See 5973 pictures of me unpacking it at http://www.flickr.com/eroticapplepackagingporno

First, it looks just as great as the CD MB! In fact, it looks exactly as great!

However, when I turned it on, it made a really loud neighing noise. The screen had 62 dead pixels. All the letters on the keyboard were marked F. It also runs really hot and set fire to my dungarees. The SuperDrive does not recognise any discs. The machine randomly shuts down AND randomly boots up when turned off - even when the battery is removed.

I called Apple but all they did was laugh at me and tell me to f**k off. :( I could hear them counting money in the background.

I think I will have to write to Macintouch.com about this.

Ok... post above was weird. I actually did just get my C2D MacBook from the Apple store in Indianapolis. I went with the white 2.0 model. Checked it out in store and all seems to be great. I will give more details when I get home tonight and can play with it more :)

Well I've been waiting for some time now and trying to decide between the macbook or the macbook pro to replace my powerbook G4, leaning heavily toward the MBP until today's announcement.

Went to the Apple store today on my lunch break and picked up a C2D blackbook. So far so good, am typing this post on it.

I'll have to get used to the smaller size from my PBG4, but otherwise first impressions is that everything's solid. Heat is warm on the bottom left side, but not uncomfortable on a lap. Very happy with it so far.

after several hours of maneuvering, i managed to get enough cash to go pick one up. i ended up going w/the 2.0 ghz white one over my original 1.83 leanings. why? well, the 512 ram wasn't upgraded on the 1.83 w/the c2d so i'd still have to upgrade. and i noticed from someone else's comment on here that the c2d processors were also different btwn the 1.83 and 2.0 models by the L2 cache. i felt a little cheated by only getting the 2mb on the 1.83 and not the 4mb like everyone else.

in any case, i'm happy. i'm calibrating it now but everything seems fine for the most part. although its my first notebook and mac so my level of knowing what to look for is off.

question: is anyone else noticing how loud the optical drive is upon putting in or ejecting a disc? maybe mine is a fluke or its just normal and i'm new. oh well.

i hope everyone else's deliveries go smoothly.

No its not a fluke mine is loud...(to my standards but i thought the iBooks were the same way too)

Was anyone in the Laval Apples store today. If so, do they have the new Macbook available?

802.11n

Whoever has one in their hands, can you please confirm if a 802.11n chipset is present?
