the magnet for the remote on the right side! I can't believe it; I went to put the remote there today on the side of the screen and boom right off the desk it went.

Oh well... :(

I can't believe it! Are you sure it hasn't simply been moved to another spot?

i'm just glad i didn't wait for the 'new' imac and bought a pro instead when my last imac went kaput

the pro may be getting on but at least it still has all it's features intact

removing the magnet ?? that's a mad design decision

so , where on earth are you meant to keep the -easily lost - apple remote ??

Isn't that the remote stuck to the base of the iMac that steve jobs is using?

Look at the white down the side, it goes down the stand, then comes forward a bit as if there was a block there - it can't be a cable, surely.

I just tried putting the remote all over the stand and there is nothing to hold it there. Oh well ;/

It's actually not that big of a deal. All of you who keep the remote attached to the computer are not using it for the intended purpose. Think about it. If you're sitting at your desk, then why do you need the remote to change songs or raise and lower volume or enter front row? You can do all that with the keyboard right in front of you.

On the other hand, if you leave the remote across the room next to your bed, or the couch, or something else, then you can access your music without getting up to go to the computer.

i too could not find the magnet to hold the remote. nothing anywhere seemed to hold it. i think it indicates that leopard will have mental telepathy to control front row and iTunes.

i thought i saw sj rubbing his temples to go through his keynote at the release....... it all becomes clear.

Never mind that... SJ tucks his shirt into his jeans! That's horrible - someone should have a word...

And he wasn't even wearing a belt with an iPod nano buckle, in fact he wasn't even wearing a belt... And what happened to his iconic turtleneck?

The Top of the iMac

I think the remote is supposed to go on top of the iMac, that is where the magnet is concealed i believe.

We should sue them when our remote falls from our 10m mounted 24" iMac for not telling us the remote no longer sticks.

Has somebody confirmed that the remote does indeed go on top of the iMac where the magnet is ???

in the 'design' images on the imac site the mouse and remote (standing up on it's own) are kind of set apart from the mac and keyboard... maybe they don't want to show off the colour difference too much...

who ever made this decision to remove the magnet obviously doesn’t live with a clean freak like I do... my partner isn't comfortable with the amount of remotes that clutter our small coffee table!! one more, even a small one like this, is one too many! :(

Just a minor detail:

putting in a magnet strong enough to hold the remote through the intervening now-aluminum case would probably cause other problems. Just set it on the base of the stand. :)
