Printing.

On an iPhone I hook my wireless printer and iPhone up to the wireless network and print direct. No delays. No issues.

With my Android phone I hook the printer and my Android device up to the wireless network and I try to print....but it sends my print jobs to some server over the internet and I wait. And I wait. Over an hour, sometimes longer. Why oh why?? If the phone and my printer are in the same room then why is the internet involved at all? Why does it take so long??

Maybe it's the brand of printer you're using?

I have no problems with any of my Android devices printing to my HP inkjet and Brother laser printers, wirelessly.

Edit .. You probably set it up wrong. I know Google has implemented something that acts like a middle man(server). Don't use that unless you are trying to print while not on the same network.

So I installed the HP print plug-in and experience delays. Apparently the Google plug-in is also an internet server jobbie. So how do I print direct without using the internet? Thanks.

I not had issue with epson sx435w or a samsung laser.

Epson is great with the android app, no delays.
My epson allow me to print as long as connected to my router even if disconnected from web.

my friend has a canon and she too doe not need web and no delays.

all our androids are samsung, not sure if make any difference.

But I'm now on apple an still all good not delay.

If I can remember. I just downloaded the manufacturer app from the play store and while setting it up, it would send me to install a plug in. This is how it is with most manufacturers. When I get home I'll check my Android to see what's installed.

My problem is opposite to yours. I can't get my iPad to work with my Canon Image Class All-in-one printer which Canon claims compatible to iPhones and iPads. My iPad sometimes can see the printer, but it'd never be able to print from it. My android devices, on other hand, always can easily do it on both Samsung and Canon.

My problem is opposite to yours. I can't get my iPad to work with my Canon Image Class All-in-one printer which Canon claims compatible to iPhones and iPads. My iPad sometimes can see the printer, but it'd never be able to print from it. My android devices, on other hand, always can easily do it on both Samsung and Canon.

Airprint is supported from my router, doesn't matter if the printer supports it or not. Nighthawk Netgear series support this feature. I have two laserjets and a Canon inkjet. Granted it's not direct support, but it works well enough even with the caveats (need adobe and itunes, which I installed anyway)

Use one or the other, don't enable both and better to uninstall Google's. I found Google to be trouble but that was ancient, pre marshmallow

I would not use WPS either.

OP is spot on.

Android sucks at it. I use an iPad for it and very easy to do. I guess real estate agents prefer iPads as their go-to device to show property and printing.

I've had no problems printing from my Android even from my PC using Android hotspot.

Sometimes it depends on specific device as well. I have a LG and Sony Blu-ray player. The Sony has more issues playing certain video formats than the LG one which can read like 99% of it.

I still wouldn't leave Android just because iOS can do something better. Just use both. Sticking to one platform would only limit your knowledge with mobile OSes. Better to be familiar with both and know their good and bad. So when an employer will ask you what are your skills are using operating systems, you wouldn't be limited at knowing only using one platform.

Fanboys shortchange themselves with knowledge and versatility for selfish pride.

I use the app Printer Share and have never had an issue. It detects any wireless printer to pair with if im not at home. I dont use it alot, but when i do need it, it works fine.
